Wordpress now the platform for British PM’s website

The new website of Number 10 Downing street, the British Prime Minister’s office, number10.gov.uk has seen the light of day, and guess what? It is built on Wordpress.

The design is if not spectacular, appropriate.

Besides a News section which is the most prominent on the site, it includes a number of sections as pages across the top. One of these is Number10TV, a page that contains a number clips that explain amongst other things, the new website, as well as a number of videos concerning meetings held with the PM at Number 10 Downing street.

More interesting is the three panels and feeds of the Number 10 YouTube, Flickr and Twitter channels off the front page of the site. Twitter is ideally suited as a quick media and information distribution tool for the
PM’s office.
