The Neoclassical theme as a customisation framework

First bear in mind that we will use the Neoclassical theme as only the framework for customisation. The customisation can change the design radically.

The Neoclassical theme was also designed by Chris Pearson, a them designer renowned for his attention to both design and search engine optimisation (SEO).

* Design customisation

Like Copyblogger the theme was made for design tweaking and customising.

It has a custom stylesheet on top the basic stylesheet. This allows you to change the look and feel risk free.

The benefit of using a second custom style sheet is that when an update of a theme is released with a new style sheet, and you wish to use it, you still have the customised style to fall back on. In other words its a future proof solution. You never touched the original and do not mind it being replaced.

Another design feature is the face that the theme includes huge rotating headers. Pearson:

“Probably the coolest feature of the Neoclassical Theme is the huge rotating header image“.

* Search Engine Optimised

The Neoclassical theme is Search Engine Optimised (SEO) in the same way that the Copyblogger theme is.

The Neoclassical theme includes all the same SEO features:

  1. A custom navigation bar
  2. Lean XHTML and CSS
  3. Standardised markup
  4. Dynamic, descriptive <title> tags for each page of your site

Read details of these SEO features on the Copyblogger SEO explainer.
