Pellissier-Place is a new guest house in Bloemfontein South Africa. It needed a website that would be its primary source of generating customers.

Bloemfontein is a venue for the 2010 Fifa World Cup and the town has over 200 guest houses and a number of hotels and motels, all with their own websites.

So the big challenge was to make sure its website featured high in the search engine result page rankings (SERPs) for valuable keywords like “Bloemfontein guest house“.

Secondly it had to embody online, the stylish and comfortable world found inside the guest house.

Methods used to improve SERPs

• Search engines love blogs which is why we used Wordpress as a platform. The guest house publishes articles regularly on Bloemfontein which helps to increase its page rank.
• The second move was to use a SEO optimised theme as the framework for the site: Copyblogger.
• The third step taken was some extra customisation. We used php code and a Wordpress plugin to make the site bi-lingual, and still easy to update. We thus increased the amount of keywords that could generate traffic via searches, and make the site more useful to more users.
• Fourthly, ZuluZulu looked for a quick win. A killer feature that would drive traffic and search engine page rank.
  • We came to the conclusion that Bloemfontein, a mid-sized town, did not have a web based events calendar, and that we could build one that’s easy to update from within Wordpress. The Bloemfontein Events Calendar was launched.
